How rounds work

What does the cut-off mean?

It’s the lowest points score invited for that occupation in that round. Everyone above it was invited. At exactly the cut-off, only EOIs with an earlier date of effect (the tie-break) were invited.

Why is an occupation missing from a round?

Home Affairs only lists occupations that received invitations. An occupation can miss a round because its ceiling was reached, because it wasn’t selected, or because no EOIs met the parameters.

Do 190 and 491 state nominations have cut-offs?

No. States nominate throughout the year with their own criteria. See each state’s status on the dashboard.

Can past cut-offs predict the next round?

No. Round sizes, occupations and ceilings change every time. Use the history to understand trends, not to predict an invitation.
