ANZSCO search

Find the right ANZSCO code, see every visa it opens, and check a client’s duties against the official tasks. All 1,076 occupations from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, joined to the skilled lists, state lists, 189 cut-offs and the Core Skills Occupation List.

Choosing an ANZSCO code

Why does the ANZSCO code matter?

Your skills assessment, Expression of Interest and visa application all name one occupation by its code. The assessing authority compares the duties you’ve actually done with the ANZSCO description and tasks, so pick the occupation your work matches, not the one with the best odds.

How does the duties match work?

It compares each duty with each ABS task for the occupation’s unit group, weighting distinctive words more than common ones, and shows which tasks the duties cover. It’s a word match to help you prepare, not an assessment: the assessing authority decides, and duties should describe the work actually done, in the applicant’s own words.

Why do some codes differ between ANZSCO 2022 and Home Affairs?

ABS updated ANZSCO in 2022. The skilled occupation lists for the 189, 190 and 491 still use ANZSCO 2013 codes, while the Core Skills Occupation List for the 482 uses ANZSCO 2022. Where the two differ, results show both.

The tasks are for a whole group. Is that normal?

Yes. ABS lists tasks for each unit group (four-digit code), which can include several occupations. The description is specific to the occupation.

Not sure between two occupations?

Compare up to three side by side, or ask a verified registered migration agent.
